Meet Kyle
Kyle Wyman
Founder & Chief TrainerOut of an original class of 16 students, Kyle was one of just seven graduates from Starmark Academy’s rigorous 12-week Canine Training and Behavior Specialist program. Within his class, Kyle was the only student to successfully complete the AKC Canine Good Citizen test with one of his assigned rescue dogs. In addition, Kyle was consistently and objectively one of the top students both academically and practically in the class, receiving numerous top three finishes in various assessments throughout the program.
Kyle views dog training as a lifelong journey of learning and growth. He is dedicated to expanding his knowledge and refining his skills to better understand each dog’s unique needs. Kyle’s goal is to create training experiences that are both effective and compassionate; helping dogs to thrive while empowering their owners with the confidence and tools they need to build lasting partnerships with their pets.
His passions are spending time with his wife and daughter, duck hunting with his canine companion, and being outdoors on a Fall day.
Professionally, Kyle has devoted over a decade to providing care and compassion at RRMC to individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation and altered beliefs of the world. This work made Kyle skilled at thinking on his feet, problem solving, diffusing tension, side-stepping crisis situations, setting clear boundaries, meeting individuals where they are, responding to aggressive and combative behaviors with the level of emotional control and physical technique needed to maintain safety for all parties involved. Kyle enjoyed the day-to-day unpredictability of the work and the critical thinking required to build trust, consistency, and a working relationship. Wanting to seek a career that would better allow for family time, Kyle set out to see whether a life spent training dogs would offer him more balance and fulfillment out of life.
For the next year and a half, Kyle partook in an apprenticeship with a local, professionally certified dog trainer. Through this trainer’s kindness, generous sharing of knowledge, and many hours of direct observation, Kyle received the clarity he was looking for: Dog training, as a career, was an endeavor he’d like to pursue.
